About Us
Reconciliation Outreach is one of the largest nonprofit, faith-based organizations in the Dallas area to provide both residential and non-residential programs for men, women, and single mothers, who have life-controlling problems such as alcohol, drug abuse, and homelessness.
THE PURPOSE
The purpose of Reconciliation Outreach is simple – reconcile
people to God and to each other. The possibilities of a reconciled
life are unlimited. Change a life and you will change a community.
Change a community and you will change a city. Change a city
and you will change a nation.
“And God has given us the task of reconciling people to Him.”
2 CORINTHIANS 5:18
THE REALITY
In 1970s and 80s the inner city of East Dallas was known as the deadliest, most drug infested, gang-ruled community in the entire city. This was a place where dreams were crushed and survival was the way of life; where ambition led to crime, and trust turned into abuse.
THE NEED
Transforming the inner city meant changing a culture aggressively opposed to God and entrenched in poverty, abuse, racial division, dependency, and violence. The deadly cycle of hopelessness had to be broken
THE VISION
At Reconciliation Outreach, we see strong urban communities that provide a safe, loving environment where lives are healed and relationships restored. We see productive lifestyles built on stewardship and hard work. We see our Savior’s grace and mercy transform lives – even the most desperate. We see despair replaced with hope.
THE STRATEGY
We believe the central cause of most problems is spiritual, and the only successful way to address these issues is with the truth of God’s Word. Ours is a face-to-face approach that is designed to impact the whole person with the Good News. We do this through programs that meet the deepest physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of those we serve.
THE MISSION
Our mission is to establish and maintain a strong Christian community within inner cities, and to provide a safe and loving environment for healing lives, restoring families and individuals to a productive lifestyle. Our passion for the poor is changing lives and changing our city. We teach stewardship and hard work to break the cycle of poverty and dependence.
